Julia's Birthday Celebration

Last Friday, we celebrated Julia’s 19th birthday with a
sister dinner date to Lauriol Plaza, a Mexican restaurant located in DC’s
Dupont Circle neighborhood.
I ate at Lauriol last year and I haven’t stopped thinking about those warm tortillas, that fresh guacamole, and those grilled yams since I finished my meal the first time around.
Usually Julia and I order different dishes and share so we can try more of the
menu, but this time we both knew exactly what we wanted before we even walked
in the door –the vegetable fajita.
We munched on chips and salsa while we waited for our food.
Green and yellow peppers, snap peas,
zucchini, mushrooms, cauliflower, yams, black beans, pico de gallo, and
guacamole served up on a piping hot grill plate. Our bus boy tried to take our chips to make more room on the table, but we made him leave them. We don't mind a crowded table, as long it's full of delicious food.
In addition to having great food, Lauriol has some of the
best wait staff I’ve ever experienced. As soon as we ran out of beans or salsa,
our waitress was at our table side asking if she could get us refills. As if we
needed them! I could have eaten half of this meal and been perfectly satisfied.
But of course we cleared our plates! So much food and it was gone before we even knew it.
